Privacy & Data Notice

This notice explains what personal information this website collects, why, and the choices and rights you have. It is written to respect the data-protection laws that may apply to you — including South Africa's POPIA, the EU's GDPR, the UK GDPR, California's CCPA/CPRA, and comparable regulations elsewhere. Wherever you are, we aim to treat your information lawfully, fairly, and transparently.

Who is responsible

This site is operated by Dave Swart ("we", "us"), in connection with the book and self-study course Self Theory. For any privacy question or request, contact: YOUR-EMAIL@example.com.

What we collect

• Your email address, if you choose to give it — when you sign up for the free diagnostic or to hear from the author.
• Your diagnostic responses, if you complete the assessment — used to generate your result. We may store a summary (such as your result profile) alongside your email if you submit it.
• Basic technical data your browser sends automatically (such as general location and device type), and anonymous usage statistics, if analytics are enabled.

We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information, and we do not ask for it. Please do not submit clinical, health, or other sensitive details through this site.

Why we collect it (and our lawful basis)

• To send you the diagnostic and the information you asked for.
• To send occasional, relevant notes from the author — only with your consent, which you give by signing up and may withdraw at any time.
• To understand, in aggregate, how the site is used, so we can improve it.

Our lawful basis is your consent (which you may withdraw at any time) and, where applicable, our legitimate interest in operating and improving the site in a way that does not override your rights.

How long we keep it

We keep your email only for as long as you wish to hear from us. If you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your data, we will remove it promptly, except where we are required to retain something by law.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it except with the service providers that help us run the site and send email (for example, our website host and email provider), who process it only on our instructions. Some providers may process data outside your country; where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information remains protected.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you have some or all of these rights, and we honour them for everyone regardless of location:

• Access — ask what personal information we hold about you.
• Correction — ask us to fix anything inaccurate.
• Deletion — ask us to erase your information ("right to be forgotten").
• Withdraw consent — unsubscribe or opt out at any time, with no penalty.
• Object or restrict — ask us to stop or limit certain uses.
• Portability — ask for a copy of your data in a usable format.
• Complain — to your local data-protection authority (for example, the Information Regulator in South Africa).

This site uses only what is necessary to function, and — if enabled — privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics. We do not use advertising trackers. If we add analytics that require consent in your region, we will ask first.

This site and its content are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
