Privacy & Data Notice

Last updated: 2026 · Applies to all visitors, worldwide

This notice explains what personal information this website collects, why, and the choices and rights you have. It is written to respect the data-protection laws that may apply to you — including South Africa's POPIA, the EU's GDPR, the UK GDPR, California's CCPA/CPRA, and comparable regulations elsewhere. Wherever you are, we aim to treat your information lawfully, fairly, and transparently.

Who is responsible

This site is operated by Dave Swart ("we", "us"), in connection with the book and self-study course Self Theory. For any privacy question or request, contact: YOUR-EMAIL@example.com.

What we collect

We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information, and we do not ask for it. Please do not submit clinical, health, or other sensitive details through this site.

Why we collect it (and our lawful basis)

Our lawful basis is your consent (which you may withdraw at any time) and, where applicable, our legitimate interest in operating and improving the site in a way that does not override your rights.

How long we keep it

We keep your email only for as long as you wish to hear from us. If you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your data, we will remove it promptly, except where we are required to retain something by law.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it except with the service providers that help us run the site and send email (for example, our website host and email provider), who process it only on our instructions. Some providers may process data outside your country; where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information remains protected.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you have some or all of these rights, and we honour them for everyone regardless of location:

To exercise any of these, email YOUR-EMAIL@example.com. Every marketing email we send also includes a one-click unsubscribe.

Cookies & analytics

This site uses only what is necessary to function, and — if enabled — privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics. We do not use advertising trackers. If we add analytics that require consent in your region, we will ask first.

Children

This site and its content are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

We may update this notice from time to time; the date at the top will change accordingly.

A note on this notice: this is a plain-language privacy notice intended to cover the common requirements of POPIA, GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA and similar laws. It is provided in good faith and is not legal advice. For a commercial operation, having it reviewed by a qualified professional in your jurisdiction is recommended.
